Sr. Applications Specialist/Sr. Cognos Developer,
TRAINER, Implementation Co-ordinator and testing lead for Business Intelligence platform. Responsible for design/development in Cognos reporting tool, analystics (Power Play) tool, business/ technical definition, system solution design, testing documentation and cutover related activities.
Training business users in Cognos platform will also be another key responsibility.
This position will work closely with IT personnel end users, and outside software vendors to plan and execute all aspects of software solution design, implementation and testing.
Daily duties include:
· Design, develop and maintain complex Cognos 8 metadata and reporting structures
· Analyze, Design, Test the Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence reporting tool solutions.
· Developing to estimated timelines or updating management on deviations to these estimates.
· Unit testing Cognos reporting/analytics to ensure it can be delivered and run in a system testing environment.
· Work closely with SME's to analyze business processes, define software requirements and to create Future State Software Design Definition and business procedures documentation
· Creates technical impact assessments utilizing input and direction from business analyst, architects, development and supporting documentation such as functional specifications, use cases etc
· Develop and implement appropriate measures that ensure high data quality
· Operates as a subject matter expert for the various application systems
· Maintains data stewardship and master data management.
· Ability to identify, evaluate and define impacts of changes, provide alternatives both to the application changing and all upstream and downstream systems.
· Assist in the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
· Develop test plans and work with users and external vendors creating and executing test scripts
· Respond to and address production issues/problems.
