Role: Senior Cognos Developer
Role Description: The Senior Cognos Developer would need to be confident with strong leadership qualities.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Report Development Life Cycle from Development to Test to Production.
- Support Daily Production issues.
- Create complex queries from scratch.
- Utilize TOAD to access and analyze data directly from databases.
- Partner with internal customers to perform 'needs analysis' in order to develop report solutions for operational and financial reporting/ processes.
- Partner with internal business customers to collaboratively work through the report development process.
- Analyze current business processes and look for means to improve efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
- Troubleshoot existing reports as needed.
- Serve as a key resource for team members within the department.
- Able to develop BI solutions that follow standards, best practices, and meet/ exceed performance guidelines.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
- BS Degree #Preferred#.
- 4 years of IT experience (Required).
- 4 years of Business Intelligence experience (Required).
- Excellent communication skills (Required).
- Experienced with Cognos development tools (2 years Report Studio required).
- Programming experience using SQL (Required) - Highly Required.
- Experience using TOAD or similar database management tool (Required).
- Strong experience consulting business partners and defining report requirements (Required).
- Experience developing sophisticated reporting solutions (Required).
- Proven ability to work independently and within a group and partner with colleagues and business customers (Required).
- Strong analytical skills (Required).
- Experience taking IT development projects from start to finish (Required).
- Experience with Cognos PowerPlay Transformer, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Studio (Preferred) - Required.
- Programming experience using Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel (Preferred).
- Experience programming and troubleshooting VBA (Preferred).
- Experience reading and troubleshooting HTML and JavaScript (Preferred).
- Experience developing multi-dimensional OLAP data cubes (Preferred).
- Experienced administering Cognos security (Preferred).
- Experienced with Cognos Framework Manager (Preferred) - Required.
- Experience with the Cognos SDK (Preferred).
